What kind of computer do you have? A mac? A PC? Do you use it daily? Well, the companies that make the computers also make other products. Microsoft (PC) makes many products including the Zune. Apple (Mac) makes products including the iPod and iPhone.

As you may have heard, the iPhone 3G is here. I think it’s stunning. It’s faster, has enterprise and App Store support, and costs $199. It is also available in 70 countries. And you know what stuns me even more? The crowd’s reaction to Steve’s intro. Bet you that everyone in that crowd knew that a 3G iPhone would be released. But still, when Jobs stated that “a 3G iPhone will be introduced”, the building went bananas. (especially Sega). Anyway, back on topic. The 3G iPhone has 3G (no kidding) GPS, and many more features. By the way, do I sound like an Apple employee? I do? Well, actually, I’m Steve Jobs. No, not really. Anyway, where was I about the iPhone. Oh, yeah, it has this that and the other. It’s made by Apple.  Then it must have good looks! Fine, it has that too. Done! Nothing else. Well it has that black metal design and white back option, but that’s it! And it has a flush headphone jack. That is really it. Caput! Finito! Done! The iPhone 3G

Do you know what it feels like to be an eleven year old who has downloaded the IPhone SDK? I do. And believe me, it’s tough! You have to write all sorts of apps. How do you that, when all you used to do is use apps? Well, I already wrote a few non-iPhone apps. They were all right. But hey, you have to move on!Some other apps written on the iPhone sdk

I personally think that Windows Vista is a great OS with a revolutionary UI. As for all the bugs, c’mon! You users didn’t notice the bugs in XP, did you? but all of a sudden, Vista is a problem. Tough! The only reason I didn’t switch to Vista is its clear negative side: the price. Maybe Vista is overrated. Maybe Microsoft is just trying to create some hype. What? MICROSOFT creates hype? I think we all know another little company that creates the hype, and I’m writing this on one of their Macs. Yeah. You got my point. Class dismissed.

As always,  Windows has absolute dominant market share. But there is still hope for the folks at Cupertino, The Mac has been steadily chipping away at Window’s lead. This probably has something to do with the success of Leopard. Leopard works great. But I think Microsoft is doing the wrong thing by taking XP of the shelves. Right now, XP is the #1 OS for Microsoft, not Vista. Maybe Microsoft is trying to send a message? WE’ll see.

There are a few types of products in the technology category. The 1st product is MP3 players.

MP3 Players

There are a few companies in the MP3 player market with large portions of market share. Some companies make a series of MP3 players, some make 1 dominant player.
Here are 5 players that you will find everywhere.

1.Apple Ipod series

2. Tie: Creative Zen series and Sandisk sansa (all players) series.

3. Archos 05 wifi series

4.Microsoft Zune 2nd gen.

5. The Sony NWZ series

Cell phones

Cell phones (or mobile phones) allow users to exchange text and voice messages over the air. Some phones offer even more features. Most large companies are entering the cell phone market now. Cell phones also require a carrier, or a provider of the cell phone service. The carrier allows the user to use a plan with the phone. Without the plan, the cell phone can’t make calls and exchange text messages. There are also data networks for smart phones. These networks allow users to browse the web and check emails. Data networks include 3G, and Edge.

Here are some phones and carriers:

Motorola Razr (Verizon, AT&T unlocked)

Apple Iphone (At&T)

Nokia N95 (GSM unlocked)

LG Chocolate (Most carriers, unlocked)

If a phone is unlocked, or GSMA/GSM, it can be used with more than 1 carrier on GSM. If a phone is CDMA it is probably only on 1 carrier.

Computers

Mac     vs   Windows

The two operating systems will battle neck to neck for the prize of the best computer. 3 rounds, best 2 out of 3.

Round 1: Interface

Macintosh: The Mac runs os X, and has an easy to use interface. There is a dock on the bottom, and a few controls in the top left corner.

Windows: Windows also has a great interface. Since more people use Windows than Mac, alot of people are used to the look and feel of windows.

Winner: It really depends on your taste. Many people use Windows daily, but the Mac is making lots of breakthroughs. For now, this round is a tie.

Round 2: Killer Apps

Macintosh: Ilife, Ichat, Ical  and Time Machine are all great apps. Safari and Itunes also continue to impress users, but Apple has launched them for Pcs too. Thanks Apple! The cross-platform apps work great on the PC.

Windows: Movie Maker, Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express all are good apps, but the application that gives Windows the edge is Microsoft Office. Sure, there is Office Mac, but its always better to have the real Microsoft Office.

Winner: Macintosh. Most Windows apps are now Mac-friendly, because of the switch of Macs to Intel. Mac apps are usually Mac-only. The Mac apps are very strong, but its really a matter of opinion on who wins this round. My opinion however, is in.

Round 3: Security and Enterprise Workings (Business).

Mac: The Mac protects its customers well, as it includes many safety apps, but it struggles in the business dept. The Mac is a computer meant for making movies, photo editing, and other visual arts. It is used by film studios, but the Mac just isn’t an office computer.

Windows: Due largely to Office, Windows stays on top here. The PC is great for students, enterprise workers, and others who need its business capabilities.

Winner: Windows. The PC stays on top, because the PC version of office and all other business apps, are better for businesses and workers than what the Mac has to offer.

Winner: TIE!!!! Its a matter of opinion. If you want the perfect office computer, then go with a PC. If you need those digital tools, the Mac is your buried treasure. Thank you for reading!
